Kerrock is designed for everyday use. Its smooth, non-porous and homogeneous surface prevents liquids from penetrating and dirt and bacteria from accumulating, making it easy to clean. A particular advantage of the material is its ability to be restored, allowing its appearance and functionality to be renewed even after extended use.
Spills should be wiped up as soon as possible. For regular care, warm water, a soft microfibre cloth and a standard household detergent are all you need. Clean the surface using gentle circular motions, then wipe it dry. For more persistent stains on matt surfaces, use a suitable cleaning pad and a fine abrasive cleaner, such as the Keril special cream abrasive cleaner. On glossy surfaces, use a soft cloth and a fine polishing compound. Limescale can be removed using a household limescale remover or white vinegar. Leave it to work for two to three minutes, then clean the surface using circular motions, rinse thoroughly with warm water and wipe dry.
In addition to everyday cleaning, more thorough care is recommended once or twice a week. To remove grease and other stains, use a mixture of chlorine-based household bleach and water in a 3 : 1 ratio. Apply it to the surface, leave it to work for ten minutes, then rinse the surface thoroughly with warm running water and wipe it dry with a soft cloth. Regular care prevents the build-up of deposits and helps maintain an even and fresh appearance.
Because Kerrock is homogeneous throughout its entire cross-section, its surface can be fully restored. Minor scratches and cuts can be removed, while deeper damage can be repaired through progressive sanding — starting with 180–220 grit, continuing with 320–400 grit and, on glossy surfaces, finishing with 600 grit or higher. To achieve an even finish, all visible parts of the surface must be treated appropriately. As this process requires knowledge and experience, we recommend that deeper scratches are repaired by a qualified Kerrock fabricator.
Always use a protective trivet for hot cookware and a suitable cutting board when preparing food. Strong chemicals should be rinsed off immediately with soapy water. When pouring boiling or very hot liquids into the sink, keep the cold-water tap running. Scratches and signs of everyday wear may be more visible on darker, heavily pigmented colours, making regular and proper care particularly important for these shades. With proper care, Kerrock retains its appearance, pleasant feel and functionality. Regular cleaning helps prevent damage, while the possibility of restoration further extends the product’s lifespan.
